Hidden Girl

A possible theme for the book "Hidden Girl" is even though things may be as bad as you can possibly think now, things always turn out better in the end. I this is The theme so far because the girls parents always used to argue and fight, later on they sold their daughter to slavery. She is alive now, I am assuming things are better now so she could tell her story through her powerful book.

Dia de los Muertos

          Day of the Dead is a tradition my family and I celebrate on November 1st. In Spanish it is called "dia de los muertos." It's the day we remember our decieced loved ones. We celebrate by making their favorite foods, then displaying it in a shrine overnight for them to enjoy. A common thing people, do is put skeleton heads and figures made from food, clay, or wood out with the food for the loved ones. Another thing my mom and I do, is run a 5K Day of the Dead race. We put makeup on our faces to look like skeletons and wear skeleton costumes. After th race, we usually enjoy some fresh tamales. 

Outsiders Theme

          I think the theme of "The Ousiders" is friends and family will stick with you till the end. I think this because in the text it said, "we're all we got left. We ought to be able to stick together against everything. If we don't have each other, we don't have anything. If you don't have anything, you end up like Dallas . . . I don't mean dead either, I mean how he was before." This shows how much they have eachothers back. In the book it also said, "stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold . . ." This quote shows how Johnny still had faith in Ponyboy to fulfill life.

Smart & Strong

                  A character that really stands out to me is Johnny. He stands out to me because he's been through a lot and still stands up for his friends and for himself. I think that it takes a lot of courage to stay strong when you get beat up almost everyday. He is also smart when in tough situations. For example, when the Socs were starting to approach Ponyboy and Johnny, he decided to stay calm and put instead of running away. I think that if he did run away, the Socs would've beaten them more, than if they weren't to run. I think that his personality could be useful in a lot of situations in the book.
